Food in Bochum

Döner kebab

Bochum is a paradise of döner kebab places. One should especially mention two addresses:

• First, the Orient Express at the Engelbertbrunnen. The nicest döner-men in Bochum work there, in the middle of the Bermuda-triangle. They are open, even if everybody else is already asleep. A good vegetarian alternative is the so called Mücver-Tasche with courgettes.
• Second comes the Sultan (at the corner of Südring and Viktoriastrasse) which is the most rustic doner place in Bochum. The shop looks like a ship and the food is exellent!

To wine and dine

Lunchtime offers can be recommended to anyone who likes to eat in a good restaurant between 12 a.m. and 3 p.m. (sometimes until 6 p.m.) and only wants to spend little money. Of course, you can get delicious meals at these places anytime (with a bit more cash). Our tips:

• Livingroom, Louisenstrasse 9-13, metropolitan flair.
• Xenos, Brüderstrasse 1, classical and modern Greek food.
• Avli, Louisenstrasse 14, Greek food, nice beer garden.
• Roma, Kortumstrasse 36, one can throw a glance over the Italian cook's shoulder.
• Gallo, Südring 25, Italian restaurant which likes to experiment and creates new Italian dishes. Definitely a must-go! 
• Taj Mahal, Kortumstrasse 9, excellent Indian cuisine but caution: can get really hot!!!
• Suntums Hof, Ümminger See 11, probably the best Italian food in Bochum. Great location at the lake in Langendreer, there is a beer garden in summer.
