Sport in Bochum
Concerning sport, the City of Bochum is particularly famous for its football team VfL Bochum
and the Olympic base in Wattenscheid where the German top sportsmen from athletics, rhythmical gymnastics and swimming can exercise.
There are also a lot of other sports clubs, so that there is almost no kind of sport which you cannot practise in Bochum.

College sport
There is a special college sport offer for the students of the Ruhr-University and all the other colleges of Bochum. To a great extent for free, this programme offers all college members a wide sport programme from aerobic to yoga. You can just go to most courses at the beginning of the semester but some need a registration (e.g. diving, tennis, surfing or swimming). The Technical University of Applied Sciences is the only one not taking part in this programme.
Students pay 15,- €, Employees of the colleges pay a semester fee of 30,- €, external persons can purchase a guest card for 50,- € per semester.
Always take your Student ID with you when you go to a course.
You can look up the programme on the internet. The printed version only has a limited edition and is available at the AStA of each college or at the college sport office (Hochschulsportbüro).
