Television
In student residences you usually receive television broadcasts via a satellite dish. Some foreign channels are available through this. At the plenary assembly of your residence the inhabitants can take part in the choice of channels.
Outside of student residences, digital terrestrial television
(DVB-T) is the best value-for-money option for TV-reception. You only need a receiver suitable for DVB-T and an antenna in order to receive 24 channels. The basic equipment will be a one-time investment of 50,- €
to 100,- €
.
For foreign TV-stations you will need satellite reception or cable television. For satellite reception you require a satellite dish, your landlord's permission to put it up, as well as an appropriate receiver. You only have to pay once for the equipment. Via satellite you can receive virtually all foreign channels.
For cable television
, you will have monthly costs (about 14,- €
to 18,- €
) in addition to a connection fee. Via cable you receive about 40 channels, including some foreign stations.
You will find more information about different kinds of TV-reception under http://www.digitalfernsehen.de
