Hello, I am Helene, come from China and study economics leading to Bachelor at the technical college Bochum for three years now. The Germans can't pronounce my Chinese name, that's why I call myself Helene.
I live in a student dormitory of the Lutheran church and finance my life with side jobs and with the support of my parents.

Me ending up in Bochum was most likely destiny : -). First I wanted to study somewhere else but was not accepted. Then in Bochum it worked and that’s how I came to Bochum.
The study itself is not very difficult but to organize the study is always a bit complicated. Which lecture should I attend? Is this offer only valid this semester? I often have to consult the course guidance to answer those questions.

At the beginning my German skills were very bad but now they are much better. The contact with German students is alright. Most German students are friendly and helpful.

Very unusual to me was that there aren't so many people here in Bochum. My hometown is a very big city with a lot of people and even more shopping- and entertainment facilities. That's why the quietness over here was very unusual to me. But in the meantime I got used to it, Bochum is already my second home.

After the Bachelor-exam I would like to continue studying in master's study course, but only if no tuiton will be introduced, otherwise I want to work.
